Self Care Routines ššš
If I havenāt said it before - Iām not a fan of the phrase āself careā. I understand the importance behind it and have reminders to help make sure that it happens around our houseā¦. But the phrase itself is what bothers me. Self care should be built into our everyday routine - but as with most things that are good for usā¦we often overlook it. For me⦠itās more because I TRULY get distracted and need reminders, and before you ask - most of the ones Iām struggling to remember to do should be built into my evening routine and even with alarmsā¦I forget to put down my book and take care of myself. So, we find ourselves with alarms to get ready for bed and a list of things to do in the evening and a routine that Iāve stacked the rest together so I donāt forget - Iāve done this so much that when change happens (like dÅTERRAās suggestion of switching from the LLV to the VMG+) it can take me a little while to get back into a good routine, and when I break the routine (like when I fall asleep on the couch and donāt set myself up for the morning wellā¦) I need reminders to know what to do š
Typical self care for me includes
Daily / Nightly
Supplements
Specific Vitamins
Water intake
Coffee⦠Seriously - not gonna stop this!
Foot Cream (sometime I add in a foot file)
Hand / Cuticle cream
Chapstick
Correct-XĀ®
Some additional things I try to do each week include (and Iāve put them together in how I have them āscheduledā)
Face Steamer (this is similar to the one I have, but the one I have is discontinued) followed by Ice Mask (the one I use came with my weighted sleep mask)
READ Fun Book (I really donāt have a problem remembering to do this anymoreā¦.donāt forget to check out our Goodreads profile for suggestions) and a foot Massage
Gus Sha Facial Massage - seriously AMAZING), and my Heated Eye Mask (this was a limited time thing from dÅTERRA and I havenāt really FOUND it again but this is similar)
Mud Mask (the one I use has been discontinued but stay tuned for my own special recipe to make your own - or buy from our shop!) usually along with a detox bath, followed by lots of coconut oil and an Ice Roller.
Wash Hair - I donāt wash my hair daily and one thing itās done is allow me to REALLY enjoy taking the time to really wash my hair!
Electrolysis and following up with some soothing Frankincense and Lavender essential oils mixed with some coconut oil (a good way to help with the āburnā but not hurt you) followed by the YarrowPom Under Eye Treatment (this is new for dÅTERRA and I have thoroughly enjoyed using these!!).
Reveal Facial System (love - love - love this!! And so sad that you canāt get it anymore!! But donāt worry - Iāve got a hack for that coming!!!) and following up with the Moringa Rose Nourishing Oil. Now - when Iām actively using the electrolysis on my face I DO NOT do this as well. It's an either or situation for the week.
I know that there is a LOT more ways I could be truly doing better (think red light, grounding, watching a favorite show), and there are a lot of ways that I havenāt mentioned here (think journaling, quiet time, gym, and cuddling with a pet), but thatās where the štrail goes off on why I donāt like the phrase self care, when we could use something like āthings to keep yourself and others aliveā ā¦ooooh I should include coffee in the list somewhere againā¦. šbut we donāt often think about these things as one and the same.
