❤️🌽 North Platte Nebraska 🐄🚜🇺🇸

I’ve made some references on where we live often enough that I felt like we really needed to explain a little more. I’ve been a Nebraska girl for a while now, and even though I wasn’t BORN here unfortunately I know that I was bred here (yeah, I didn’t want to know either but since I do? You have to know too), and I’ve lived here for 90% of my life (I actually don’t have the exact percentage but that’s close enough). Even when I haven’t been living here - I’m still a midwest gal with Missouri roots 😜

So a little bit about our town….if you’ve spent time driving through Nebraska, even if you don’t KNOW North Platte… You know OF North Platte and have probably stopped here to use the bathrooms. We have a unique set up here, because we have roads (hwy and interstates) that reach from coast to coast and border to border (Canada to Mexico), and before you ask - yes. That does make me a little nervous and why I try to do all the things that will help me stay aware of my surroundings. We are also the hometown of Buffalo Bill Cody… and the Buffalo Bill Cody Rodeo during Nebraskaland Days. Currently we are in the final weekend of that, so traffic and PEOPLE will slow down soon, hopefully….

No town is completely all the things that you ever wanted it to be but ours comes pretty close. We enjoy the “small town” mentality while still having access to some of the larger town options. There are a LOT of complaints about not having a lot to do - I guess? That’s true?? But since I’m kinda a homebody and prefer to avoid lots of people… that’s never really bothered me. We do have quite a bit of growth coming, and I’m hoping that means we’ll have some better options for shopping - but I’m also very thankful that we live in a day and age that I can get most things shipped TO me (thank you THRIVE MARKET) so I’m still able to get the things we needs as a family.

We have a really weird and “rich” history that I think comes with the location, and really - I’ve done some of the research and read some of the books, but some of the things that have happened in the past, still happen now and the real reason to know them is more so to understand how things work in our “small town”, and when to argue, push back, and when to just roll your eyes and move on.

We’d invite you to visit our town’s .GOV website to see more, but you can always contact us if you’ll be around for a visit! We’d love to show you our “zoo” and share some Cody Park Ice Cream. Or if you are passing through on a weekend we’d love to have you join us at church - NP Berean

All in all - we love our hometown and are excited to have our daughter grow up here around people that we’ve decided are our family. However, “small town” NE life is really truly different from small towns in other states. Each area has their own unique stamp on life and we are proud of the one we are leaving as our legacy.
