Outdoor Fun ⛳️🏹🪁🛼🚵‍♂️

So it’s been a while… and before I write a bunch of excuses - I’ve decided that I’ll write about it some other time and we are just going to move on for now. 🥰😜

Everytime I think about having outdoor fun the Beach Boys Song “Fun, Fun, Fun”... then because I have a female brain that connects all the things - I might then jump over to Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini and then, well, spirals from there! 😜😜 Anyhow… The official start of summer came and for us it was followed by some really HOT days. I’ll be doing a post about where we live but needless to say - we are used to the hot days and minimal (partial?) humidity too. This year seems to be hotter earlier in the year and we have been speculating that it’s going to be a VERY HOT summer indeed.

So how do you deal with all the things you really want to do outdoors when it’s this miserably hot?

  • Plan ahead. There are a lot of things that you can do on the spur of the moment, but when it’s super hot (or even super cold) making sure you plan ahead is KEY. What can you prepare ahead and have ready to go in a bag? What can stay in your vehicle without overheating? What will you really need when you travel?

  • Water. Lots and lots of water. We use stainless steel cups and water jugs to make sure we have enough. Ben and I use gallon jugs each and Soph has a ½ gallon one that we pack for her. Now, you know that those tend to warm the water if they stay in the sun but keeping them out of the sun has been key for us. We also are big fans of electrolytes and typically use the dōTERRA Recharge

  • Sunscreen? I’m a BIG fan of allowing God’s natural Vitamin D to soak into my own skin, but sometimes prolonged exposure is too much. I always recommend a GOOD quality sunscreen that isn’t full of a bunch of C@n9er causing CRAP (yes, I said it #sorrynotsorry). This is the one we recommend HERE, and yes - it’s from dōTERRA, and yes, they have many options (including a daily use facial one) so you can pick your favorite. Don’t forget about after sun care

  • Bugs…. Just…. Bugs….. We did a whole posting on how to handle those HERE so I’m not going to rehash that but be ready for bugs and how you are going to deal with after care too,

  • Food. This is really a tough one to plan for - we get it. And we even fail at this one often….. (see Freddy’s run after the Rodeo this past week 😬😳🙄) but making sure you have good quality and good FOR you snacks available is key. We know it’s harder to take with you, but we really like fruits (watermelon) full of water to help make sure we are staying hydrated.

  • Proper clothing - and before ANYONE jumps at me… I MEAN to deal with the sun and then cooler nights, to deal with being in the water and the sand… and really any other variation you might have. Me? I prefer an easy change of clothing and doing that with layers tends to work best for me. Now if you have a toddler in the midst of potty training…. Best of luck to you! 😜❤️

I’m sure there are many things that I missed - what are some of your favorite tips and tricks to enjoy your outdoor fun?
