A Day at the Park

One of the many things that we are loving as a family is spending time at the park. Soph is JUST old (and big enough) to really enjoy playing. Sometimes the equipment is too big and we get a little nervous OR we decide that we need Mama or Daddy to go down the slide with us, but at least once a day we are hearing “Ready go park?”

So what do we take to the park to enjoy the time there the most?

💧💧 WATER - I do not trust that the places we go will have good clean water for us, and before anyone comes at me… yes I was one of the kids who drank out of the hose, HOWEVER, our city has started to overtreat the water and dumps massive amounts of chlorine in the city water and I’ve developed a little bit of a complex about drinking any of it. We use normal stainless steel water bottles and then have gallon jugs (Soph has a ½ gallon) that come along with us too. We also make sure to have one or two sachets of the dōTERRA Recharge (electrolyte drink), with Soph’s favorite being the Strawberry “pink drink” one. We don’t always drink these AT the park but we do make sure to have one once we are cooled down.

☀️ Sunscreen - I am alllllll about getting out in the sun and absorbing some natural vitamin D, but there comes a time when we need to make sure we aren’t burning. Soph is pretty fair skinned so especially at the beginning of the warm park weather season, we do tend to put sunscreen on and then as we go along in the season and our skin absorbs the rays and gets a little darker I don’t need it as much and really it just depends on the day for Soph. We do use the dōTERRA Sunscreen, and while there are several options from them - this is our favorite. We do follow up with the aftersun spray to make sure we are taking care of our skin (I even use this in the winter to help the dry skin on my back - and it’s AMAZING for tattoo care).

🥨Snacks - currently with Soph, snacks are LIFE. We’ve eaten a rather large meal (her include) and before we’ve digested for 10 min - she’s asking for a snack! 😜So we tend to keep allllll of that on hand as much as we can for her. We’ve really loved the Serenity Kids (I’ll get my discount link for you), and other clean snacks (should we do a post about all our clean snacks??)

🖐️ On Guard Sanitizer - We’ve used the spray and usually have one of those in like ALL the bags that might make their way with us places, but especially when we are experiencing dry skin I really prefer the gel, and then in our coolers we keep some of the wipes (sometimes they’ll have some individually wrapped ones that I can snag and stick a few all over). These are great to make sure we aren’t getting something nasty from the playground but also - 2 year old. She eats dirt and rocks sometimes, so really it’s mostly for me. Plus the nice thing about using the On Guard products - I’m helping boost our immune systems each time we absorb it into our skin.

I’m sure there’s more “stuff” that usually makes it’s way with us to the park and to most of our activities but these are the three (four) things that are NON negotiables for us. Did I forget anything? What do you have in your park pack?
