🌹🪻May Flowers 🌸🌺 and Springtime 🌷🌻
If April showers bring May flowers and spring time - then Nebraska missed the memo! 😜 We went from beautiful cool 55-65* to 85*... seriously…. What happened??
Thankfully that means we are getting some sunshine and things are turning green! 💚💚This means that all the people are getting all their flowers planted and it. Looks. BEAUTIFUL!! It’s gotten me all excited to get ours planted - and while we will not be doing as many as some, we have a plan to do nice wildflower batches all around 🥰🥰 I had a friend show me some really fun greenery as well so I’m thinking about adding that around too… thoughts???
Now along with all the beautiful flowers comes…. Spring allergies. I can tell you exactly how long it’s been since I’ve used our oils to calm my head and sinuses when I wake up by the severity of my headache. Thankfully I’ve found some great remedies to help and keep me sane!!
Did you know…
💜Lavender is a natural antihistamine and while I don’t personally like the taste of it straight, it is amazingly helpful! You can add Lavender (don’t forget - I’m talking ONLY about doTERRA essential oils), to really anything. Lavender coffee, lemonade, tea, baked goods? Yep! Now I typically add a little (along with the other oils I’m gonna talk about here in a min) to a veggie capsule and take it as I’m getting ready for bed.
💛Lemon is a natural detoxifier. I LOVE lemon and you can add it to almost anything once again 😜now - before you all come at me… remember that essential oils DO NOT have any added sugars to them. Its the pure oil - so don’t add the lemon oil to your water expecting lemon ade! We love to use them in the diffuser too help freshen up the house and make it smell all nice!!
💙Peppermint is a natural expectorant - that means that it naturally helps you get all the JUNK out of your lungs! 😜Peppermint is just an amazing oil that helps with SO many things, but when you have massive amounts of drainage (like you do when it comes to all things allergies) this will help make sure you don’t end up sick-sick.
💜💛💙Like I mentioned - I really like combining these together (usually 2 drops each) and take it before bed, BUT you can also add those to a diffuser so your whole family benefit from them.
Another really helpful oil to have on hand during this time is Frankincense 🧡Because this is oil is the “pump you up” oil it’s amazing to add to literally anything, but the reason and way I like to use it for allergies is on the roof of my mouth (see the image for where), I put a drop on my thumb and press into the soft palate for about 10 seconds. Once we learned this it was a TOTAL game changer for all of us! It’s a good thing to try and take a drop of Copiaba 🩶under your tongue as well - this is a great oil for pain and helps calm all the pain receptors in your brain. This doesn’t always immediately take away the pain but it calms it down and allows the rest of the oils (I’m getting to recommend those…) time to work. We found a really great roller recipe that uses Birch and Lemongrass (LOVE this combo by the way) as well as something else….that I can’t remember…. So when I find the recipe for that again I’ll make sure to post it for you all 🥰😜
One of the new things that we’ve started using that has been really helpful is the Gua Sha massage on my sinuses. It helps break up all the junk that can bunch up and cause so much pressure and back up. You know when it feels like you need to blow your nose but then you can’t - or your nose is too dry? Try a Gua Sha massage to help break all that up.
Speaking of dry… did you know that the ingredients in doTERRA’s Correct X is extremely helpful and beneficial to keeping your nose (or lips) healed up from sneezing and all the things? I apply a VERY small amount to the inside of my nose both morning and evening (I use either a cotton swabs or a last object swab for easy application), and it has an added benefit of helping keep bloody noses away!
The last point that I want to make sure you ARE indeed using your diffuser as often as you can. I usually prefer something “warm and cozy” in the diffuser but in the spring time I tend to stick to the citrus oils - Citrus Bloom is my favorite (add a little splash of something like Tea Tree or Eucalyptus to mix it up) during the day and then switch to Serenity in the evenings to help my brain and body calm down from “all the things”.
Fall will probably always be my favorite time of year but the new life springing forth this time of year is such a great reminder of the new life we have in Jesus - it’s hard to be annoyed with my allergies while seeing all the babies!
